Owner Operational Retention
The Owner Retention is like a safety wallet for your car. From the Owner Net Earnings described above, each owner sets aside a total of R15,000 from their earnings (either all at once or in small monthly amounts) to make sure there’s always money available for petrol and insurance when needed. This money stays yours at all times — it’s not a fee or a payment to Fleetly. If you ever decide to stop working with Fleetly and give 30 days’ notice, your full R15,000 is paid back to you. It’s simply there to keep your car running smoothly from day one, and you even earn 2% monthly interest on it until you leave. The nice thing, is the higher your retention at any given time, the higher your earnings (as Drivers need petrol to do their job – so they can focus on all trips, instead of cash trips to fund their petrol). We place our best rated drivers (Uber rating and Fleetly earnings); based on the Owner Operational retention balance. 

There are five options and here they are below:

Option 1: Hold All Your Earnings Until It’s Fully Funded
We hold back 100% of your earnings from the vehicle until the full R15,000 retention is saved. This usually takes around 1.5 months. After that, you get your normal monthly payouts again. It’s quick, automatic, and gets it done fast with no admin stress.
 
Option 2: You Keep What You Need, We Save the Rest
You tell us what your monthly vehicle instalment to the bank is (for example, R6,000). Every month, we pay that amount to you first, and then use the rest of the car’s earnings to build your R15,000 retention. This option gives you breathing room and usually takes 2 to 3 months, depending on how well the vehicle performs.
 
Option 3: Get It Done Fast (R5,000 x 3 Months)
We deduct R5,000 a month from your earnings, and in just 3 months your full retention is built. After that, your income flows back to you in full. Best for owners who want to finish quickly and move forward.
 
Option 4: Middle of the Road (R3,000 x 5 Months)
A steady pace. We deduct R3,000 a month over 5 months. It’s a good balance — not too aggressive, not too slow — and helps you build your operational buffer in a manageable way.
 
Option 5: Easy-Does-It (R1,500 x 10 Months)

We take R1,500 a month over 10 months to build your R15,000 retention gradually. This is the lightest monthly impact, perfect if you want to ease in without putting too much pressure on your cash flow.
